Hey guys, it’s that time of the year again… E3 is right around the corner! Set to run from June 15-17, 2010, Square Enix will once again be presenting a FINAL FANTASY title at E3. Of course, that would be FINAL FANTASY XIV! Square Enix is also set to release a NEW TRAILER for FFXIV during those days! Alpha phase two invites have already been sent out! If you haven’t been invited, don’t worry, I haven’t either .

As your resident Final Fantasy Fangirl, I will be practically living at the Square Enix booth for those days, trying to capture everything I can. Is there anything specific you want me to capture? There is also an official Q&A site that SE made for E3:

Over the months, I’ve read and looked at most of the articles, leaked or otherwise, regarding FINAL FANTASY XIV. I have summarized some of the more interesting bits here along with a couple of very wow-worthy leaks!

1) FFXIV Official Character Creation video:

. A LOT more customization than compared to FFXI’s avatars… you can even add bandages and scars to your characters! Also, it seems that they will be able to be created under one of “The Twelve,” a concept similar to Greek Gods.

2) Info about Graphics and Beta test phase:Zam article on the differences between Alpha/Beta .

I’ve included a comparison picture below; it looks like the shadows are getting over-hauled in the Beta.

3)A taste of some leaked screenshots:

I vigorously searched around for these, go to Onrpg’s page for more screenshots. I only searched through 20 pages of this OrderoftheBlueGartr thread and found a bunch of pictures below. It’s got around 253 pages…so there are tons of pictures lost in the middle. There was one picture in this thread that contained many many miqo’te (mithra) faces that someone compiled, but I can’t seem to find it… If you really want to see it, search away in that thread! I remember reading somewhere that the battle system will almost be entirely different in the beta, due to complaints that the current system was too slow. Also, the graphics are supposed to be very different as the game is being developed for release, so remember to take these pics with a grain of salt!

4) Leaked Roegadyn (Galka without tails) emotes found!:

BlueGartr Forum Post. The variety of emotes is astounding! The video is about 100 MB, but it’s worth it if you really want to get a taste of the emotes of FFXIV.

5)Leaked Chocobo Theme from FFXIV:

I found this chocobo theme on youtube. It’s confirmed to be the official chocobo song of FINAL FANTASY XIV! There are also leaks of the official OST soundtrack… which a person you may or may not know, may or may not have. I’m sure you can find it on google if you search hard enough… Well, here’s the youtube video! I’ve heard that Nobuo is back to do the whole FFXIV soundtrack.

6)Male Miqo’te confirmed from FFXIVcore article“

•DP: Are there NPC like male Miqo’te and female highlanders that you can’t choose as a player?

•KI: Yeah, there are. They might appear in certain forms. At this point, I can’t declare that players can’t play as them forever.”

7) Dengeki Interview on Crafting/graphics/customization/guildleves, courtesy of ZAM ( article here):

•”Another big chance for FFXIV is the addition of voice acting“-”the voices are still planned to be recorded in English only.”

•”Crafters will have other unique abilities, such as being able to add their own colors or patterns to the equipment they make”

8- Transition from Alpha to Beta (ZAM article here ):

•”The beta is planned to begin once a player base of around 50,000 is built and the servers are stabilized to        handle them.”
•”Players are having a hard time acquiring gil. The developers recommend Guildleve, but admit the issues with the alpha test cause people to fail their missions often. They plan to add a consolation prize if you should fail a Guildleve, and also provide rewards for party members who help you.”
•”Shadows are also getting an overhaul. Using SSAO (Screen Space Ambient Occlusion), the developers say that shadows can change faithfully based on orientation, position and distance from various sources of light.”
•”In addition to Chocobos, carriages, boats and airships will appear in Eorzea. The various level requirements are still unknown.”
•”The developers are planning to focus on customization of equipment to allow for more coordination and unique fashions. One example is how the interviewer noticed the difference between leather hats and suede hats on the NPCs.”
