Pre-E3 2011: Elder Scrolls V-Skyrim (Expectations)

The Elder Scrolls + Dragons + New Goodies = Skyrim
It has been almost 6 years since the release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Expectations are running high at this year’s E3 regarding The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which is to due to be released on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC 11/11/11. As a long time fan of the series since Morrowind, this highly anticipated installment in the series has me flocking to the nearest video game store to reserve my copy.
So what can fans expect to learn about Skyrim at E3? As expected, it will be a single player experience. As like the other installments in the series, the player will campaign through a main quest and have the option of undertaking a multitude of side quests along the way. According to http://elderscrolls.com/ , there will be more than 120 unique dungeons spanning a map very similar to the size of that in Oblivion. They mentioned that stats such as INT, AGI, STR, etc. will be removed. The same is expected of a couple of fairly useless skills Acrobatics and Athletics. It will be very interesting to see how the new leveling system will work now that we no longer need to stand in the middle of town casting spells until the cows come home just to level up. Finally, I would like to see how fast-paced the battle system will be considering we will be dealing with almighty dragons.
All in all, the game looks great already. I’ll definitely look forward to learning more about it at E3 2011.
