E3 2011: Sony’s upcoming PSP2/PS Vita (UPDATE)

[By K.Tran]
Among the highly anticipated hardware being unveiled at this year’s E3 is the Sony NGP. According to their official site (http://us.playstation.com/ngp), this new gaming device will feature 2 dual analog sticks, a front and rear camera, front-multi-touch display, a multi-touch rear-pad, GPS, and SIXAXIS motion sensors. The specs given are as such: touch screen (5”; 960×544), built in speakers and microphone, CPU (ARM® Cortex-A9 core, and as for the dimensions (182.0×18.6×83.5 mm). Essentially, a beefed-up but at the same time thinner PSP. It also claims to have graphics that would rival the PS3. The system is advertised using a new Uncharted game to showcase all the new features. No doubt, many will be eager to learn more and try out the new system if it is available at E3 2011.
UPDATE: At E3 Day Zero, Sony has just announced that the “PS Vita” (new URL is http://us.playstation.com/psvita)to be released by the end of 2011. The pricing is surprisingly not too horrendous for a next gen portable system. It will go for $249 (for Wifi-only) and $299 (for 3G, through AT&T’s *ahem* network)
